Posted On Wednesday, January 7, 2015
Everyone makes plans that are a bust. It's a waste of time, effort and resources that we all wish we could avoid. We know that what we enjoy is largely affected by our personality, so use the zodiac to your vacation-planning advantage! Socrates said to "Know Thyself". With a little reflection to know thyself a little deeper, you can plan the best Asheville trip you've had and on that your group, if you bring one, will be talking about (in a good way) for years to come. Asheville is a beautiful city that reminds us of the beauty and importance of the past with trapping us in it. We had a blast looking at what each sign means and finding activities that would fit each one. So, enjoy your trip and have fun looking through our ideas for each sign!
Dates: March 21 - April 20
Aries are passionate with a zeal that cannot be contained. They are known for having character strengths such as independence, generosity, optimism, enthusiasm and courage. However, tend to share flaws such as being moody, short tempered, self-involved, impulsive and impatient. The key to having a great time (especially if you're hanging out with friends) is to balance you're strengths and weaknesses. Look into activities that will allow you to expend your natural vibrancy, but still offers you a sens of control, since a lack of control is the quickest way to spiral down to impatience. However, as a natural leader and a fiercely loyal friend you are the natural choice for organizing get-togethers and your unquenchable generosity ensures that everyone will be able to participate. Look into hiking if you feel like setting the pace or sky-diving if you want the thrill of an adrenaline surge.
Dates: April 21- May 21
Known for being dependable and patient, as well as persistent, loyal, generous, as well as stubborn, lazy, possessive, materialistic and self-indulgent, Taurus represent one of the greatest contradictions in the Zodiac. While they can be very introverted, they project extroversion when needed and are unafraid to lead people into the unknown. This can leave them feeling drained if they aren't careful to rejuvenate themselves. Asheville can be a great place to get away alone or with a significant other for a weekend of to get your bearings again. Because earth is their element, taking one of Asheville's many scenic hikes can be a great way to help a Taurus re-center. However, taking historic tours or walking through museums before hitting a local pub is always another great idea with a Taurus.
Dates:May 22 - June 21
Fiercely independent, Gemini are known for being energetic, clever, imaginative, witty and adaptable as well as superficial, impulsive, restless, devious and indecisive. Gemini are open to being friends with almost anyone and will leave their mark on everyone they meet and they love to incorporate the ideas of people they meet and pass them along. Gemini need the balance of business that doesn't leave them exhausted and not being bored. Fortunately, Asheiville has several options for those who have the true Gemini duality at battle in themselves. If you're craving some excitement, look into high energy activities like zip-lining, or if you want something to appeal to your witty humor (and devious) side, think outside the box and take the Biltmore tour and try throwing the actors off and getting them to break character.
Dates:June 22 - July 22
If you're a Cancer, like me, you already know how awesome (and modest) we are. Known for being empathetic, loyal, dependable, adaptable, and responsive as well as moody, clingy, self-pitying, over-sensitive and self-absorbed, Asheville appeals to the "old-fashioned" tendencies in most Cancers. If you're planning a trip for a Cancer, Asheville is a great place to go with your significant other. In an idyllic city, surrounded by beautiful mountains, Asheville is full of those grand romantic gestures that help Cancers affirm their relationships. Keep in mind, that Asheville's unique experiences also offer the opportunity to try a lot of new things, so keep your eyes peel for amazing chances that a Cancer might be hesitant to suggest. Swimming holes are a great way to capitalize on Cancer's element and a way to do so that is unique. The really important thing to a Cancer though is making memories, so just walking around the shops downtown and taking pictures to bring home is sure to be a big hit as well.
Dates: July 23 - August 21
Confident, ambitious, generous, loyal, encouraging, pretentious, domineering, stuborn melodramatic, and vain - Leos have a zest for life and a warm spirit that is hard to surpass or resist. And their zest rubs off in bountiful quantities. Their optimism is infectious and they are loyal and dedicated to friends who are going through difficult times and make more everywhere they go. Leos want activities that will completely consume them and as soon as one is done, they are looking for the next one. Fortunately, Asheville is a mind-blowing kind of place (if we do say so ourselves), from our cuisine, to clubbing, and just the natural surreal beauty nature provides, Asheville is a one-of-a-kind place. Look for activities that will keep you entertained like looking into the local theatre groups, or going dancing (if you're having a moment of self-doubt there are several studios that offer swing lessons at different levels).
Dates: August 22 - September 23
The Virgo cocktail of analytic, observant, helpful, reliable, precise, skeptical, fussy, inflexible, cold and interfering may not sound like a solid recipe for a fun at first glance. However, in enjoying themselves (as in all things), a Virgo's goal is perfection and they won't stop until they have reached their ideal for relaxation and enjoyment. With a Virgo in your group, you're ensured that all your reservations will be made, tickets will be bought, other options will be researched and everyone will get to each activity on time. Though cold at first, once a Virgo has entrusted someone with their inner thoughts and feelings, you are a friend for life. Everyone needs a quiet trip to decompress from life and Virgos are great for those kinds of trips. Because of their laid back nature, natural penchant for beauty and element, the North Carolina Arboretum is a great option for Virgos as well as checking into some of the historic tours available in downtown Asheville.
Dates: September 24 - October 23
A Libra is excels at all things diplomatic, graceful, peaceful, idealistic and hospitable and struggles with being superficial, vain, indecisive and unreliable. They crave socialization and enjoy meeting people from every sign, personality, and walk of life. Libras love all things exciting, new, unusual and adventurous - which is perfect for Asheville! Libras like a variety of activities and being their own spice and vivacity to all of them. Anything from wine tasting at Biltmore or Pub Crawling to looking into some of the local art to going out clubbing is fair game and something a Libra can look forward to in anticipation and back on with fondness.
Dates: October 24 - November 22
Ruler: Pluto (Mars)
Scorpios are perhaps the most independent of the signs. Finding fulfillment in themselves, they do not require the company of others. The duality of their nature is displayed in extremes of their personality. On one hand loyal, passionate, resourceful, observant, and dynamic while on the other jealous, obsessive, suspicious, manipulative and unyielding. They are the sign that is most commonly misunderstood and therefore place a high value on people taking time to be with them. They are profoundly loyal to those who take the time to be their friends and will stay with them through good times and bad and find an immense amount of joy in helping their friends laugh. Because they have such a deep appreciation for laughter, comedy venues like Disclaimer Comedy are great nights out for Scorpios.
Dates:November 23 - December 22
The strengths and weaknesses of a Sagittarius can be summed up into one word each. The greatest strength of a Sagittarius is independence and the greatest weakness is being unemotional. A Sagittarius' home is the world itself. Traveling wherever they please, seeking adventure and new experiences - they are the original free-spirit. However, they place a higher value on friendship than they do on their own momentary entertainment. Therefore, Sagittarius' are willing to make compromises and be interested in a wide variety of activities in order to include their friends. If a Sagittarius is craving to be active, surrounded by others who are involved to varying degrees, Harrah's Casino is a great place to start! If they are feeling like a more laid back night, check out Funny Business Comedy Club.
Dates:December 23 - January 20
Element: EarthCapricorns are passionate about their work and finishing it themselves, this is demonstrated in their characteristics of responsibility, patience, ambitiousness, resourcefulness and loyalty. However, part of why they must finish everything themselves is because they are so distrusting of anyone else to do the job right. This is shown in their tendencies to be dictatorial, inhibited, conceited, distrusting and unimaginative. Rue to being distrusting by nature, it can be difficult to befriend a Capricorn, however once you have established that bond, it is not one that will be broken easily. Hand in hand with the obsession with finishing work is a love for figuring things out and facts. If you're taking a Capricorn to Asheville, a historic or museum tour is sure to tickle their fancy. Or, if you have enough time to make plans, find several places to take them and turn it into a scavenger hunt (or you can do our pre-planned pub-crawl, which is not s scavenger hunt, but is delicious)!
Dates:January 21 - February 19
Ruler: Uranus (Saturn)
Aquarius are true to the nature of the wind in their strengths (witty, clever, humanitarian, inventive and original) and weaknesses (stubborn, unemotional, sarcastic, rebellious, aloof). Aquarius are hard to get to know at first, but are very warm-hearted toward those who have the tenacity to pursue a friendship with them until they are comfortable trusting you. One of their greatest joys in life is making other people laugh and enjoy themselves! However, in total contrast to their cold exterior, an Aquarius is always ready for an impromtu weekend with friends and loves to throw themselves into everything they do (especially for their friends). While there are lots of great things for an Aquarius to do in Asheville, their unique appreciation for laughter makes them especially appropriate for Disclaimer Comedy, a stand-up comedy club.
Dates:February 20 - March 20
Ruler: Neptune (Jupiter)
Pisces is best known for their adaptable and dependable nature. Other positive aspects like being compassionate, accepting, devoted and imaginative makes Asheville a perfect fit for you.
