Western NC Pet Picnic Benefits Asheville Human Society, Asheville Compassion Network & Pilots N Paws

Make a date with your pet this weekend and plan to be at Fletcher Community Park in Western North Carolina from 11a.m. to 3p.m. for Beemer's Picnic for the Pets this Sunday, July 20. Who is Beemer? She is Buncombe County's most beloved rescued pit bull. She and her owner Joelene (Joey) Beckman have raised thousands of dollars in benefit of area animal rescue groups.

Pet-friendly People

This premiere event welcomes you, your pets, your family and your friends to come and enjoy an afternoon of food, vendors, live music and a car show. Pet-friendly people including "Dog Father" Steve Canady are on hand to provide training tips. Local celebrity and author Diedre Franklin is also attending. She is the founder of Pinups for Pitbulls. Veterinary surgeon and volunteer pilot for the Pilots N Paws organization Dr. David Crouch also plans to be at the picnic to share his experiences and answer questions.

Bring your lawn chairs, picnic blankets, and whatever else you may need for a day at the park with your four-legged friends and family. Beemer's Picnic for the Pets benefits the Asheville Humane Society/Animal Compassion Network (AHS/ACN) and Pilots N Paws. AHS and ACN joined forces last year  to provide greater reach on their mission to rescue homeless animals. AHS rescued over 4,000 animals in 2013. Think of what an impact they can now make with their merger.

Pilots N Paws is a national organization where pilots donate their time and fuel costs to help transport dogs where they need to go to receive veterinary care or to meet their adopting family. They need continued funding to help support the services they provide.
