One of the most delightful aspects of being on vacation is the fact that you get to sleep in if you want to in the morning and then wake up slowly with your family. The only thing that can make a lovely slow morning like this even better (besides a cup of deliciously hot coffee, of course) is a beautiful view, which is exactly what we have to offer you with our stunning vacation homes!
After slowly waking up while wrapped in a big cozy blanket on the front porch where you have been gazing at the greenery, you are bound to be hungry (and want a refill on that coffee!). So hop on in your car and make the short trip to Old Europe, a delightful little coffee shop in downtown Asheville. Not only do they have wonderful, handcrafted drinks, they also have fabulous European pastries with a Hungarian twist created by a pastry chef who was born and raised in Hungary.
Yes! There really is a sandy beach in the mountains! A beach fronting a lake, that is. Lake Lure, to be exact. Not only does the lake offer beautiful sandy beaches perfect for sunbathing or building sand castles, there is also a flowering bridge and a walking trail.
With the days growing ever warmer and warmer at this time of year, a plunge into a refreshingly cool swimming hole is just the thing! A fun place to do just that is at Sliding Rock, a 60-foot sloping boulder that is an exhilarating natural water slide.
After a refreshing plunge into the chilly swimming hole, it is time to warm up with some chill-vanquishing Thai food! For some yummy Thai food in the heart of downtown Asheville pop over to Thai Tara. A budget friendly, tasty restaurant with huge portions, you are sure to walk away satisfied. If shopping after lunch isn't to your taste, then Asheville's Burlesque and Sideshow Festival just might be! On its tenth year, this festival celebrates the tradition of Vaudeville, which is certainly something that you don’t run into everywhere anymore. Performers travel across the globe from countries such as Scotland, Germany, and Japan to collaborate with their American cousins for a fabulous show. Filled with contortionists, trapeze artists, and other fabulous attractions reminiscent of another century, this show is sure to delight the entire family with a spectacle only to be found in some big cities.
This fun-filled outdoor festival features plenty of beer tastings, along with live local music and food from local vendors. Not only is this afternoon-long festival worth checking out in and of itself, it is the kick-off to Asheville’s annual Beer Week. Beer Week is an eight-day celebration where all who participate an expand their knowledge of beer and its brewing, as well as participate in beer tastings and delicious dinners.
After eating a big lunch and indulging in some beer, it is time to dance the evening away! So head to the Biltmore’s Antler Hill Village where they have daily live music on the village green this late spring and summer.
