Every Evening at 9PM
The North Carolina Arboretum will be hosting a beautiful, musical event each night in August. The Blue Ridge Orchestra will perform a delightful variety of popular favorites: think Broadway Show Tunes and even classical selections. The music will be incredibly matched with the stunning light display that is projected onto the Arboretum’s forest backdrop. Definitely something that you will want to check out!
Mountain Dance and Folk Festival

The is next event is a fabulous folk festival held in Asheville - the 91st annual festival like this held in Asheville to be exact! The performances will showcase all different aspects of the Appalachian cultural heritage. You will see Scottish, Irish, Cherokee, English, and even African touches in the performances. So, come to the incredible festival and feast your eyes and ears on dancing and music galore! It will not disappoint.
Biltmore Village Art and Craft Fair
August 4th - 5th 2018
Do you love to feast your eyes on stunning work crafted by American artists amidst an elegant outdoor setting? Then you will love the Biltmore Village Art and Craft Fair that runs a full weekend each August. It is a gorgeous display of riotous color and talent from artists from a full different 16 states! The Lake Lure Olympiad
August 10-12, 2018.
Are you an athlete? Or just a fan of athletic competitions? Then you absolutely must catch the Lake Lure Olympiad. If you want to compete, there is a sprint triathlon, junior Olympiad, 10K Dam run, Race to the Rock, and a 2-mile Open Water Championship. All of these races showcase the stunning vistas of Lake Lure and Chimney Rock, as does the festival that surrounds the race. Check it out!
Asheville’s Shindig on the Green
August 11th, 18th, and 25th of 2018
On each Saturday evening in August there will be a fabulous and FREE bluegrass music and dance festival. Musicians from around the Appalachian region will celebrate the areas cultural traditions through their music and dancing.
Dirty Dancing Festival
August 24th - 25th, 2018
Can you believe there is a festival celebrating Dirty Dancing? It is an absolute must-see in the Asheville area! And this year, it will be even more elaborate since it is the 30th anniversary of the film! Starting on Friday night there will be a free outdoor screening of Dirty Dancing alongside the beautiful Lake Lure! Then on Saturday there will be a full day of live band music, dance performances, food and beverages! Plus, as the crowning delight, the Asheville ballet will perform and teach famous dance moves from the movie. The after party at the Rumbling Bald Resort will feature a 10-piece brass band, dancing, and even a beach cookout!
Downtown After Five

Join us for another delightful Downtown After Five in downtown Asheville. This month the star performer will beSouthern Avenue: Fiery young Memphis quintet that embodies soul, blues and gospel traditions, while adding a youthful spirit and dynamic energy all their own. Opener is The Fritz, a soul-driven dance rock band with an aggressive approach to funk, soul, and rock.

RiverFest
August 18th, 2018
During the RiverFest you will get to watch an incredibly zany parade of floats and rafts while enjoying live music, local beer, and food from some incredible food trucks! Not only are the floats outrageous, but the rafters themselves done crazy costumes! This is an event that is sure to bring laughter bubbling to your lips.
