How to Have the Most Refreshing New Year Ever
The confetti is a distant memory. Your champagne headache is long gone. And you are starting to settle into the new year comfortably, even though you did start going to the gym a little more and trying to eat healthier. Has the gilding started to wear off of your New Year’s resolutions yet? Are you feeling less relaxed and refreshed than you would wish? Are you still as harried as you were in 2016?
Then it is time to reevaluate those splendid New Year’s resolutions that you made! It is time to reevaluate your life and make time for what really matters. For that is how you will have the most refreshing New Year ever. Are you ready to find out more details? Then read on!
Tailor Down Your New Year’s Resolutions
Did you make a list of resolutions that is pages long? Everything from the non-specific "sleep more” to the slightly more specific "loose 10 pounds” getting mixed up with all kinds of other non-specific items? Maybe you spent quite a bit of time on your list, and the more time you spent the more things you discovered you wanted to accomplish in the New Year. You now have more than enough goals to fill three years rather than just the one that is before you now.
Instead of throwing out your lovely list of goals, just reevaluate it! Tailor down. By taking a look at your list and deciding what is really important to you. Of course, everything seemed important enough to put on your list so lets set some limits for ourselves. Pick the top 5 to 10 items. The goals that are most important to you. That will make your life more beautiful if you accomplish them. The goals that you have to reach to have a good year. And then make them more specific. Spell out every detail that you can for that goal in one sentence. For example, instead of saying you want to lose 10 pounds, say that you want to cut out sugar and keep a food diary to help you watch what you eat so you can loose 10 pounds this year.
Re-Evaluate Your Life
As you take a look at your goals, tailoring them down and making them more specific, it is time to also reevaluate your life. After all, if you are going to pick the goals that mean the most to you - that will most positively effect your life - you have to know what your priorities are. And your priorities can change over time - do often change with time. When was the last time you evaluated your priorities? Before you had kids? Before the kids went off to college? Before your new job?
So take a moment now to decide what is really important to you? Your family, yourself, and your greatest passion (traveling?) should make that list. What are two other top priorities? Now, does your tailored down list of New Year’s resolutions reflect these priorities?
Take Some Time Out
All of this evaluating takes at least a little bit of time. Plus, you need some time just to breathe. To think. To take care of yourself and relish your family. A vacation in one of these cabins in Asheville, NC, is the perfect way to escape your daily routine, take some time out for yourself, reconnect with your family, and work on setting the best goals possible for this year!
It’s not too late into the New Year to take such a vacation! We can’t wait to see you. And, we wish you the best year ever!
