2013 is quickly coming to a close and the New Year is upon us. Will you be joining us for an Asheville getaway? We hope you are planning to be here to celebrate 2014 in Asheville style.
New Year 2014 in Asheville
In addition to the usual fine fare, craft beer and eclectic downtown scene, the New Year brings some additional holiday fun to Western North Carolina. Whether you're looking for a Smoky Mountain train adventure on New Year's Eve, great fare, dancing and live music, or a chilly dip in Lake Lure to start the New Year off right, you'll find it all here.

The Great Smoky Mountains Railroad offers a New Year's Eve Gala where guests can enjoy dancing, live music, a three-course buffet style dinner, party favors, a countdown to 2014, a champagne toast and more. The train departs from the Bryson City Depot at 9p.m. Come early for drinks and hors d'oeuvres at 7:45p.m. at the Smoky Mountain Trains Museum. Tickets for the New Year's Gala dinner train are $135 per person and you must be age 21 or over. Advance registration is required.

The local establishments have a lot of dinner and drink specials, as well as New Year's Eve celebrations throughout the downtown area. Be sure to check out what's going on at The Orange Peel, Tressa's Jazz & Blues, The Grey Eagle and Avenue M.
