It happens even in Asheville...the dreaded rainy day. While we all love those beautiful sun drenched days in the mountains a little rain shouldn't ruin your day. Asheville is a fun and unique place to visit and there is plenty of ways to spend a rainy day during your Asheville summer vacation. Here are just a few of the ways you can get the most out of a rainy day in Asheville.
Visit Biltmore
Did you know that Biltmore is America’s largest home? If you love history and architecture or just enjoy seeing something amazing Biltmore is for you. Take a self-guided tour of Biltmore. With your admission comes a free wine tasting at Biltmore Winery, the most visited winery in the United States. Don't forget to stop and see the gardens if the rain lets up. The gardens are home to a large collection of exotic flowers and beautiful orchids.

Asheville River Arts District
The River Arts District (RAD) is one of the best features of Asheville. Asheville prides itself on being an epicenter of unique and inspiring art within the Southeastern United States. If you love art than you are going to love spending time strolling through the shops of RAD. The area includes more than 200 artists who practice within dozens of different mediums. From metalworks to watercolors there is something for every taste and interest in the River Arts District.
Check out a local museum
Asheville is home to several interesting museums. One of our favorites is the Asheville Pinball Museum but there are museums featuring all sorts of interests and topics. Another popular one is the Asheville Art Museum featuring art from all over the region. Visitors will be amazed at the talent and artistry on display at the museum. Have a game night or day
Ok we know the kids are going to hare putting down there cellphones. However, if our experience is like yours once the games start the kids will love getting to spend time with family. In this world of constant stimulation via phones, videos and music sometimes it is nice to just here the sound of the rain on the roof and the dice on the Monopoly board.

Visit the Biltmore Antique District
Just outside of the Biltmore Gate you will find a wonderful selection of antique stores to walk and window shop. There are currently well over 450 vendors featured in about a dozen shops. If you love antiques or collectibles or just enjoy taking a walk down memory lane while looking at the wares than this is the place for you. Don't worry there are coffee shops, chocolatiers and other fun places to stop and see along the way.
