7 Fascinating Asheville Events You Don't Want to Miss This June 

It’s a beautiful month for weddings, for indulging in the last blooms of spring, and for taking a vacation in our cabins in Asheville, NC! Of course, while on vacation, you will want a nice variety of activities to be able to choose between while on vacation. Asheville is constantly teeming with this event and that activity. Which means that instead of not having enough to do you run into the opposite problem of having too many things to do and not enough time to do them in. Which is why we whittled down all of the events going on this month and have selected the top 7 Asheville events of this June for you. Are you ready to see just what you can do this June here with us? 


Clay Festival

Are you interested in pottery? Maybe you have even dabbled in it a bit yourself? Then this Clay Festival is for you! On Saturday, June 10th from 10am - 4 pm the Folk Art Center in Asheville, NC, is hosting an event for pottery fans to meet the creators they so admire and learn tips and tricks from them. Plus, the Folk Art Center is just a fabulously fun place to visit, full of both traditional and modern handicrafts. 



Saturday Night Lights


Every Saturday night this month the Tryon International Equestrian Center is putting on a fun filled spectacle. Think, Grand Prix horse jumping competitions, live music, and carousel rids for the kids. Plus, there are some fabulous dining options for you, such as the retro, 50’s themed Rogers Diner and the locally sourcing Blue Ginger Sushi and Noodles. The gates open at 6pm and admission is free, making this a must-attend event for anyone even slightly interested in horses. 



Asheville Art in the Park


This year on June 10th, 17th, and 24th Asheville is putting on a fabulous art extravaganza. Artists will be displaying their wares around Pack Square. Plus, the beauty (and shopping options!) will stretch down historic Spruce Street which is near Pack Square. Which means that it will take you the entire 6 hours (11am - 5pm) this festival is open to be able to adequately browse through all of the diverse, local offerings. This event is perfect for anyone who loves art, who loves shopping, or is just looking for something fun to do outdoors that is appealing to adults but also noisy-kid friendly. 

  


Downtown After Five

Music lovers, this one is for you! On the third Friday of June (June 16th) a free and fun-filled concert will take over Downtown Asheville. This month, Sonny Knight & The Lakers will be performing from 5pm - 9pm. Not familiar with the band? They are an energetic 7-piece band that blends soul, Gospel, and country music all into their own unique genre. 



Better Dad’s Festival


June is the month to celebrate dad’s! After all, Father’s Day is June 18th this month! Which is why Asheville is putting on its first Better Dad’s Festival from noon - 9:30pm on June 17th. There will be a wet sponge race, tug of war, and a freeze dance session. This is a new event you will definitely want to check out as a family.



Cherokee Pow Wow

From June 30th - July 2nd this year the Acquoni Expo Center will host the annual Cherokee Pow Wow. Here you will get to experience a cultural immersion while you feast your eyes on the beautiful tribal regalia and dancing and listen to the traditional drumming. World class dancers and drummers will be competing during the event for large cash prizes, helping to fill the air with sizzling excitement. Food vendors will be selling (for cash only) such delicious offerings as fry bread, meat pies, roasted corn, and much more. While this event is an hour outside of Asheville it is definitely one that you will want to make time for. 


 

Mile High Fourth of July


While the Fourth of July is, of course, in July, this fabulous Independence Day celebration actually starts on June 30th. Both Banner Elk and Beech Mountain - towns high in the stunning mountains of the Blue Ridge range - will join forces to put on this beautiful bash. Starting Friday (June 30th) live music will fill the area, continuing throughout the rest of the long weekend. Saturday features the annual Hog Roasting and fireworks! Arts and crafts shows as well as theater productions will fill the lovely long weekend, as well as a Blues festival! Of course, the Fourth itself will be filled with patriotic celebrations including, but not limited to, a parade and the Party in the Park the includes egg tosses and sack races.
