It’s a fabulous time of year, with the upcoming holiday season right on the horizon! There is so much fun ready for you this November in Asheville! Here are the top 7 events that you absolutely can’t miss this November in Asheville!
Lights! Camera! Action! Do you love curling up with your favorite Christmas movie during this holiday season, immersing yourself as much as possible in the Christmas spirit? Then you will love the Polar Express in Asheville, NC! This actual train will take you and your family on a 1.25 hour trip to the North Pole and back. Enjoy cocoa and cookies while living out the fabulous story of the Polar Express. Then let your kids meet Santa! This whole adventure is sure to be a hit for the young and old alike.
Would you love to stroll through studios of numerous artists, picking up inspiration as you go? Well, for two weekends out of the year, you can do just this along the River Arts District. Now, while of course you can do single studio tours throughout the year, it is only for these two weekends that you can be guaranteed to find almost every artist at "home” with their doors open! And one of these weekends just happens to be in this month: November 11-12.
Starting on November 15th this year and running through January 6th of 2018, the Smith-McDowell house will put on a Victorian Era Christmas extravaganza. You can tour the house for the price of a $9 ticket, and thoroughly enjoy all of the beautifully decorated rooms. On November 16th this year there is going to be a fabulous food and wine extravaganza that you will not want to miss! An annual fundraising event, the Asheville Food and Wine events features food from over 40 local Asheville restaurants, allowing you to sample more gastronomic delights than you normally would be able to on your vacation to this delicious city. There will be everything there from chocolate, to comforting BBQ, to classical French favorites (with many other gastronomic stops along the way). This is something you definitely won’t want to miss!
5). Winter Lights
Touring a garden at night? No, we’re not crazy! We are talking about touring the North Carolina Arboretum while it is decorated in a brilliant winter light display! It is like getting to tour a magical winter fairy land. Plus, you will get to see the arboretum in a whole new way. Check out more about it here.
On November 18th this year, there will be a beautiful holiday parade through the heart of Downtown Asheville. There will be marching bands, cheer squads, and lots of festive floats. The parade will last for an hour and a half and starts at 11AM.

From November 26th - January 4th, the wildly popular gingerbread house competition will be once again held! The entries will be displayed in the main floor lobby of the Omni Grove Park Inn. All entries have to be constructed (except for the base) out of completely edible materials, so be prepared to be wowed by creativity, ingenuity, and attractive deliciousness. While enjoying all of the gingerbread house entries, you should also make sure to take a peek at the 80 decorated trees in the lobby!
