4 Steps to Getting the Most Out of Your Rental Kitchen

Get the Most from Your rental Kitchen with these 4 Handy Tips
The kitchen is the hub of every family gathering I can remember. As old fashioned as it might seem, all the women in my family gather in the kitchen, the men wander out to the wood shed and the kids chase each other around in circles. The first day that my grandma called me into the kitchen to help with dinner was like a Prussian Bat Mitzvah, Quinceanera, and Coming Out Party all at once. I moved up to the portion of the table with the adults and my aunts told the story of how I made the perfect gravy and sweet potato casserole to my uncles over and over.

Every holiday (and for most significant football games) since I've woken early, gotten dressed and zipped down to the kitchen to begin the cacophony of pots, pans, and spoons clanking and banging as favorite dishes are made. And every year more memories are made over casseroles, cookies, breads, and lots and lots of tea. Make this vacation special by turning your meals into more than just a means to an end, turn them into memories.

1. Read the Fine Print

You can't possibly be expected to prepare for something you know nothing about. Make sure you're ready for what each rental property will have stocked for you. Read our Rental Policies statement to be aware of what Asheville Connections is responsible for and read your property's individual description to have a better idea of what will be provided for you in your rental. If you are confused about any of the information provided or have questions about something, feel free to contact us and we'll be happy to help!

2. Plan Ahead

It really does make everything easier to plan ahead! Take a little time to get to know Asheville's Food Scene and any Attractions or Events you may want to experience while you're in town. Plan ahead for how many nights you'll be out already and use those as your springboard to plan the nights you'll stay in for! Check out our printable meal planners for an idea of how to plan who will be cooking, who will be cleaning, and what will be cooked when.

3. Pack Accordingly

If you know you're going to have a Mexican night while you're staying in Asheville and you have a favorite seasoning you use, bring it with you! It can be a bit of a hassle trying to pack everything in the car with you for your trip, so don't worry about perishables or produce. Asheville has plenty of awesome grocery stores as well as a Local Farmer's Market you can utilize for those needs. But make sure you have all your family's favorites that you already have in your cupboards or can only get in your hometown. Don't forget that while our rentals do come with basic kitchen supplies, they may lack smaller, personal details, like candle holders, corkscrews, oils, or garlic presses. So, if you have romantic plans for dinner one night, or just know there's some little kitchen knick-knack you can't live without, feel free to pack it in and bring it along for the ride!

4. Use It!

Our goal is for you to experience the best of Asheville on the best budget possible and a huge portion of that is food. While Asheville does have one of the best and most vibrant culinary scenes in the country, not that we're bragging, we know it can be expensive to just eat out all the time. Save a little money and make a lot of memories cooking in your fabulous kitchen while you're staying with us. We can't guarantee all your meals will turn out perfect, but we can promise memories you'll cherish for years to come.

If you need a little inspiration, feel free to check out our Asheville Eats Monthly Feature. Each month a new restaurant or southern recipe is highlighted for you to try. Experience the true spirit of Asheville dining around a table with your family and friends and take home the memories that come with it.
