Designed for Drama: Fashion from the Classics
George Vanderbilt, the creator of the grand Vanderbilt mansion and estate in Asheville, was a book lover. in fact, he had a personal library that contained more than 22,000 beautiful volumes, and he counted the leading authors of his time amongst his personal friends. In honor of Vanderbilt’s love of books, they are displaying costumes from period films based upon some of the special books in Vanderbilt's collection. Biltmore Blooms
Spring has come early this year, due to the unseasonably warm weather we have been having. Which means that the Biltmore is getting ready to celebrate spring early with is annual Biltmore Blooms festival! It will run this year from March 20th through May 25th. And this year, the celebration will kick off with 50,000 tulip blooms in the Walled Garden’s patterned beds. Read more about this much-anticipated event here.
Spring Wine Release
On Friday, March 24th, the Biltmore invites you to join them in tasting their first release of their Spring Wine. This year, it will be a beautiful Rose that is full of fruity notes of persimmon and blood orange, which are two of the fruits most bountiful in markets right now. A wine glass will be included as a souvenir of your delicious evening out.
Dilsboro, NC, Easter Hat Parade
April 15th is the date of this year’s Dillsboro’s Easter Hat Parade. As the name suggests, this parade features a variety of unique hats atop the participants. And the categories are just as unique as the hats themselves: best smelling, funniest, poofyest - you get the picture!

Asheville Beer City Festival and Week

This year, Asheville is holding its beer week from May 26th-June 3rd. To kick the week of tastings and educational events off, there is the Beer Festival which is held this year on May 27th. Lake Lure Arts Festival
Also happening at the end of May (from the 27th to the 29th) is a lovely arts festival on the banks of beautiful Lake Lure. There will be live music, dancing even, and food to accompany the stalls of gorgeous art and local handmade crafts. Definitely something you don’t want to miss out on!
