10 Essential Items to Bring on Your Next Vacation

10 Essential Items to Bring on Your Next Vacation

Planning a vacation is fun, but it can also be a bit stressful (especially when it comes to packing). Visiting the North Carolina mountains has never been easier with the the staff at Asheville Connections helping you find the perfect cabin. With so much to do and see, everyone will have different needs. However, there are a few items we think everyone should consider packing. Here are ten essential items to bring on your next vacation.

Phone charger

It's hard to update that Instagram account without a charged phone or your iPad. Packing a charger is an essential item for any traveler.

Medications

Getting medications refilled isn't impossible on vacation, but it is a hassle you will want to avoid. Make a list of your medications and pack accordingly.

Sunglasses

Keeping your eyes safe from the sun is am important part of your self-care. The mountains (especially if you on the water) can be very harsh on the eyes.

Comfortable shoes

Whether you are walking around downtown Asheville or checking out a local hike, having a great pair of comfortable shoes is essential to a great day of exploring. Nothing is worse than sore feet.

Don't forget the dog

If you are traveling with a dog, packing can be a little more challenging since you have to remember to pack for the pup. Remember the leash, collar with your phone number, doggie bags, medications, food, favorite bed and of course, some toys for your furry friend. Don't forget that Asheville Connections has many homes that are pet-friendly.

Two forms of payment

We suggest having two cards with you on vacation. Even if you just have a spare credit card or a spare debit card, it can be a real lifesaver if a card is lost, stolen or just won't work properly.

Dress in layers

Pack clothes that can easily be worn in layers. Layering is especially important here in the mountains where the weather can change quickly, especially in the fall and winter.

A book

In this day and age, a book may seem strange, but when you have a flight delay or just a few moments when you want some peace and quiet, nothing beats a good old fashioned book.

Cash

Sure, we said you should have two credit/debit cards, but it is just as important to have a bit of cash with you when you travel.  You never know when a vendor might not take plastic or if you have a problem with your cards.

Specific dietary items

Some of us have special dietary requirements. Whether it is an allergy or something else, it is important to look at your destination and see if you will need to bring certain food items on your vacation.  Asheville has a great selection of restaurants (including several vegan and vegetarian options). Even more important is the fact that your cabin will have a well-appointed kitchen, making it perfect for cooking at home.

Now is the perfect time to plan your 2021 summer mountain vacation. Avoid the heat and head to the cool, refreshing North Carolina mountains. We have a great selection of cabins that are perfect for your family's vacation. Give us a call today at 828-274-6978 to speak with us about your vacation needs.
